A netizen shared an experience she had with her late grandmother that was spooky but yet heartwarmingly touching.
She said that there’s this belief among the Chinese that when someone in their family passes away, their soul will linger on earth for 7 days before they move on to the other world.
The girl’s grandmother passed away before Chinese New Year back in 2009, and she was waiting alongside her relatives for her to “appear”.
On the 7th day of her grandmother’s passing, her father was away and her mother was afraid of sleeping alone, so she asked her to sleep with her in the master bedroom.
Her mother then went to the kitchen for a smoke, leaving the girl alone in the room, lying on the bed.
She then heard snoring inside the room, even though she was the only one inside.
She then said out lout: “Popo (grandma), if you are here, can you wait for me to fall asleep first? Because I’m scared if you are really here.”
The storing then stopped.
The girl then (in a state of panic) hid under her blankets and tried to sleep.
That night in her dreams, she saw her grandmother scolding her in her dreams, angry that she was afraid of her.
But she told her that it doesn’t matter because she was the easiest person for her to reach out to.
The Ah Ma also said that she didn’t have much time and had to go soon, before leaving some messages to the girl to relay to her family and relatives.
The girl then woke up the next morning in tears, having got the opportunity to see her grandmother for the last time.
