“GTA GONE WRONG”, TEENAGERS ARRESTED AFTER STEALING MOTORCYCLE IN TOA PAYOH

The Police have arrested two teenagers, aged 16 and 18, for their suspected involvement in a case of theft of motorcycle.

On 22 January 2024 at about 8.40pm, the Police were alerted to a case of theft of motorcycle at a carpark along Toa Payoh North. The stolen motorcycle was recovered by the Police on the same day along Toa Payoh Lorong 1. 

Through ground enquiries and with the aid of images from CCTV and Police cameras, officers from Tanglin Police Division established the identities of the youths and arrested them within six hours of the report.

The two teenagers will be charged in court on 24 January 2024 with the offence of theft of a motor vehicle with common intention under Section 379A read with Section 34 of the Penal Code 1871. The offence carries an imprisonment term of up to seven years, and a fine.

The Police would like to advise all motorcycle owners to adopt the following crime prevention measures:

  1. Park your motorcycle in well-lit areas; 
  2. Install an anti-theft alarm for your motorcycle; 
  3. Use a motorcycle canvas to cover the motorcycle, securing both ends; 
  4. Use additional locking devices such as disc brake locks or install a suspension guard;
  5. Remove the ignition key and lock the motorcycle, whenever it is left unattended; and
  6. Do not leave spare keys inside the motorcycle storage box.
