Another shooting took place at a church in Southern California during a lunchtime banquet, leaving one person dead and five injured.
The gunman in his 60s had opened fire at the Geneva Presbyterian Church in Laguna Woods, at about 1.30 pm local time.
He was then detained by the churchgoers who tied him up with an electrical cord before the police arrived.
Jeff Hallock, the Orange County Undersheriff, said that the group of churchgoers displayed exceptional heroism and bravery in stopping the suspect, and prevented additional injuries and fatalities.
One of the victims died at the scene, with the other five wounded being sent to the hospital.
Hallock added that at the moment, they do not know what the gunman’s motive was and that they suspect he doesn’t live in the area.
The police also found two handguns at the scene.
