GURMIT SINGH FINED & BANNED FROM DRIVING, APOLOGISES ON INSTAGRAM FOR SPEEDING

Following the news of his $800 fine and 3-months driving ban for speeding, actor and comedian Gurmit Singh (best known for portraying Phua Chu Kang) took to Instagram to issue an apology video.

In a short clip, Singh addressed the incident:

“Hi everyone, you may or may not have heard about the news but I just want to say I’m sorry, and I hope to do better. Take care.”

His apology seems to have been met with support from netizens.

Singh was caught speeding along Woodlands Avenue 12 on the evening of 12 April 2021, he was driving at 131km/h on a road with a speed limit of 70km/h.

Singh had just picked up his son from work when he noticed a “flapping sound”, and he wanted his son to hear the same sound, so he sped up hoping his son would hear it.

He was however scolded by District Judge Salina Ishak for putting his son’s life in danger.
