When I first arrived in China, I was excited to try the local cuisine. I love trying new foods, especially when traveling, and was looking forward to trying all the dishes I had heard about.
Little did I know that I was about to have a very different experience than I had expected.
One evening, I went to a local restaurant with some friends and ordered what we thought was a typical Chinese dish. It looked and smelled delicious, so we all dug in.
As soon as I put the first bite in my mouth, I knew something was wrong. It had a strange flavor and texture that I had never experienced before.
After a few more bites, I asked the waiter what it was. He told me it was dog meat. I was horrified and immediately stopped eating. It turns out that the restaurant was known for serving dog meat and I had accidentally ordered it.
My friends were equally shocked and we all stopped eating immediately. We had heard about the practice of eating dog meat in China but never thought it would be served in a restaurant.
I felt terrible for having eaten it, even if it had been by accident.
The strangest part was that even though I was disgusted by the thought of eating dog meat, I also found it surprisingly delicious.
I had never tasted anything like it before and it had a unique flavor that I found surprisingly appealing.
In the end, I have to admit that the experience wasn’t all bad. I was horrified at first, but I also can’t deny that it was one of the most interesting and unique culinary experiences of my life.
