A Facebook user by the name of Yee Hoo Thim, shared online about how he almost drowned to death while he was swimming at Sentosa.
Yee said the he was swimming from Palawan Beach towards Siloso Beach, when he got sucked into a current near the blue buoys.
He described it as feeling like a magnet being sucked to the other side.
The current was sucking him out into the sea, beyond the beach waters, where he saw waves of about 2 metres high, which frightened him.
Yee then held onto the chains that were linking the buoys, holding on for his life, and he tried to swim but was unable to because the current was extra strong.
He said that if he were to let go of the chain, he would be swept out into the sea.
Trying his best to remain calm, he then swam along the buoys while holding on to the chains.
He “sprinted, kicked and swam” until he eventually made it back to shore.
According to Sentosa, beachgoers and swimmers are advised to swim between the red and yellow flags, which is supervised by their beach patrol officers.
