Facebook user James Lim shared how he had bought a pair of Adidas soccer boots from WestonSG for about $260 earlier this year, and purportedly wore the boots “less than 10” times.
He said that the threads on the boots became loose on both sides, as well as sporting a huge hole near the metatarsal area of the shoe.
He said that he went back to the store to show them the boots and they allegedly told him that it was the manufacturer’s fault and that he should look for Adidas instead.
So he then went to Adidas and they told him the he should look for the store that he bought from instead.
Here is what he said
I bought a pair of Adidas soccer boots from WestonSG costing $260 on Jan 2023 and the boots thread came loose on both boots at around the same spots after 4 months of less than 10 wears.
I went back to the store and was told not their problem as it was manufacturer defects and should look for Adidas directly.
Taking this advice, I wrote to adidas and was told that they are only responsible for product bought directly with them, even if it is manufacturer defects.
Adidas advised that I should look for Weston instead. Being treated like a soccer ball, I ended up buying Nike as replacement because I have totally lost trust in the adidas brand I supported for years and because Nike have very clear policy on manufacturer defects covering 3rd party authorized dealer.
To be fair I have not encountered product issue with Adidas before this as I believe in their quality but once I knew that they don’t stand behind their products quality, that’s the moment I and all friends/family switched to other brands, for now it will only be Nike.
BOTTOMLINE: COUNT YOURSELF UNLUCKY IF YOU BOUGHT A LEMON ADIDAS PRODUCT THROUGH AUTHORIZED THIRD PARTY BECAUSE YOU ARE AT FAULT FOR CHOOSING THIS BRAND’S PRODUCT AND NO ONE ELSE TO BLAME BUT ONESELF.
I hope this bring awareness as no one should face such issue especially from big brands/retailer.
