Marcus Phua Xie Yu, 24-years-old, was sentenced on 6 May to 15 weeks of jail for taking upskirt videos of multiple occasions between May and October 2018.
He reportedly had just completed his probation 8 months ago for a similar offence, when he reoffended.
Phua pleaded guilty to 15 charges of insult of modesty, 28 other similar charges were considered during sentencing.
Phua had reportedly taken the upskirt videos at various locations, including near SIM and several MRT stations.
He would typically follow the victims from behind and film them when they were on the escalator or staircase in front of him, before going home to transfer the clips onto his computer for his personal viewing pleasure.
He was eventually court on 12 October 2018, after following a woman who alighted at a bus stop in front of the Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS).
He reportedly filmed the woman as she was going up a nearby overhead bridge, before returning to the bus stop.
A man nearby, who was at the overhead bridge, saw what Phua did and confronted him.
Phua then deleted the video clips that he took that day.
The good samaritan’s companion then made a police report.
The court heard that Phua was previously sentenced to probation in 2016, which he completed 8 month prior to his reoffending.
