I am a young professional living in Singapore and I’ve just started to build up my wealth and acquire assets.
My ultimate goal is to own a condominium and a car, but I also want to keep up with my lifestyle of eating out and going out with friends.
Unfortunately, these two lifestyles are mutually exclusive and I had to make a choice.
After much deliberation, I decided to opt for the more frugal route and focus my resources on saving up for a condominium and a car. To do this, I decided to make Maggi my go-to meal every single day. It was the most cost-effective way to eat and I could get it from the nearest convenience store.
At first, it was quite hard getting used to eating the same thing every day. But I found ways to make it more enjoyable. I experimented with different types of Maggi, such as the chilli and curry flavors. I also tried adding different spices and condiments to it. I even put in some vegetables for some color and texture.
It was also quite a challenge to stay disciplined and not to splurge on other food. But I managed to stay strong and kept to my budget. On the days I felt like treating myself, I would reward myself with a small snack or a cup of coffee.
The hard work paid off and I was able to save up enough for the down payment for my condominium. I also managed to save up enough for the car installments too. I was so happy when I moved into my new home, and finally had my own car.
My daily Maggi meals taught me a valuable lesson on the importance of discipline and budgeting. It was a humbling experience, but I’m glad I did it. I now have a better appreciation for wealth and I’m now more mindful of my spending.
It was definitely a sacrifice, but my experience of eating Maggi every meal was worth it in the end. I’m glad I made the tough decision of choosing to save up for a condominium and a car, and I’m glad I managed to do it.
