A netizen shared how he feels like a loner at school – he doesn’t have any friends and eat alone, has no one to do projects with, and stands by himself while he watches others talking and laughing with each other outside classes.
Here is the story:
I’ve been wanting to get this off of my chest for a while now but I’m not comfortable enough to tell anyone in my life about it.
If I do, I know their response will be the same. “Just try starting conversation”, etc but I am very bad at it and will most likely embarrass myself like I always do.
Whenever I’m at school I always eat and sit alone. I’m always left alone to do class projects because I have no one to partner up with. When waiting for class to start. I always stand by myself while my classmates talk and laugh with each other.
I have this empty feeling whenever I see posts on social media with people having the time of their lives with their friends. I’m so envious of them and I desperately wish someone would just talk to me.
I wish I had my own group of friends like everyone else. It’s so isolating to watch everyone else with their friends. I hate it.
Is there something wrong with me? Is it the way I dress? Am I too ugly to want to be seen with?
I honestly feel so pathetic and I feel like my classmates know how much of a loner I am just by looking at me.
I don’t want to feel this way anymore and I feel like I’m wasting my school years away.

Do you have any clubs you’d be interested in joining? After-school activities? It’s easier to make friends with someone who has common interests as you.
Also, you can’t tell yourself you’ll screw up a conversation before you even have it. That’s setting yourself up for failure with that mentality.
Not only that, the more you do get into those conversations you say you’re bad at, the better you get. No one gets worse at something they often practice at.
Have any interests like photography or cars? Great! Pursue those and make yourself interesting. That’s part of making yourself attractive.
Friends don’t have to be from school either. It doesn’t matter where you get your friends it matters how you get them.
Have no expectations either. Just have fun with it and it’ll work itself out.
