GUY GOT PROMOTED AFTER CO-WORKER REJECTED IT, THEN CHANGED HIS MIND & BOSS GAVE IT BACK TO HER

Coworker rejected a promotion, so it went to me. Now they’ve changed their mind.

Our job has several offices throughout our community. I’ve been working at our oldest and busiest location, while a coworker has been at our newest and less busy location.

There is yet another location which has a vacancy as of this week. Although not our newest office, it is newer than others and is just a really laid back place to work, complete with outdoor areas and plenty of space.

Several coworkers have turned down the opportunity to fill the vacancy, so I was ultimately asked and accepted it.

One coworker has seemingly changed their mind and approached both me and a supervisor about it. Things were and have been cordial, with me just standing my ground and not handing over the promotion simply because someone changed their mind.

Our supervisor has been off, and the replacement supervisor filling in for them usually works at this office in question. I find out today, unsurprisingly, that the coworker who has been on the fence will now be put at the office instead of me.

I knew from the beginning that this promotion was too good to be true. On a regular basis, people have been congratulating me and telling me how easy I will have it, with me responding the whole time that “I’ll personally have to see it to believe it.”

I was supposed to begin working there tomorrow. And it wasn’t until last night that I finally accepted that I would be at the office, and I thought of all the ways I could enjoy my new workspace.

Tell me why I found out the DAY BEFORE that this is no longer the case… Again, I’m not surprised. But at least let me know of the switch up while I was still in disbelief.

I’ll still be there tomorrow, but only because the fence-riding coworker is off. As I mentioned earlier, our normal supervisor is off for a couple of more weeks. The replacement supervisor and this coworker usually work together, so perhaps that’s why he secured the promotion-albeit in our main supervisor’s absence.

It really doesn’t matter to me which office I end up working at, but at this point it is a matter of principle. When main supervisor returns, we should all have a sit down to discuss this.
