Ng Yi Yao, 33-years-old, a delivery driver, had booked a social escort then pretended to be an anti-vice police officer, trying to get her to have s*x with him for free.
The 22-year-old woman refused and he then raped her after threatening her with a knife.
Ng was charged with 2 counts of aggravated rape and 2 counts of aggravated sexual assault by penetration.
He was sentenced on 23 August to 18 years jail as well as 24 strokes of the cane.
A fifth charge of impersonating a public servant was considered during sentencing.
What happened?
On 21 February 2019, the victim was informed by her agent to go to a hotel room at Harbour Ville Hotel to service a client, who would pay her $450.
The victim was a Singaporean who was a part-time undergraduate, who held a full time besides her social escorting.
She asked Ng for payment upon his arrival, to which he claimed to be a police officer and flashed what seemed to be a card holder.
He then asked for her phone and IC, which she did.
Ng then started voice recording on his phone and told the woman that there was a police operation and repeatedly asked her to perform sexual acts with him, to which she refused.
The woman eventually complied after she saw him holding a knife.
Ng raped her and made her perform oral sex.
The woman then showered and wanted to leave but Ng then tried to strike a conversation with her, taking photos of her IC and exchanging numbers.
He insisted on taking her home.
The girl then reached home and called a friend and the police shortly after.
Ng was then arrested the following morning in Hongkong Street, inside a hostel where he was residing.
