people getting married after 1 or 2 years is insane to me
i wont yuck your yum, if you’re sure then thats your decision, it has no bearing on my life lmao, but i just cant imagine going through that and i think about it every time i see anyone say something like “after one year and six months he finally proposed!!”
people can change so much after a few years, but you’re ready to financially, legally, physically, mentally commit to a person after just one or two? how can you be 100% sure that you want to have all of that for the next 50, 60, 70 years with this person after only been with them for a fraction of that time?
its mental to me, i’ve been with my partner for just over 2 years and while i know i want to spend the rest of my life with him, i wouldnt dream of making that a legal thing until its been at least 5 years.
and ofc people can change after any amount of time during a relationship, but when you have years under your belt of being with a person before putting anything down on paper, you’ll understand warning signs and know how to communicate more effectively and have a grasp on how the other reacts to big hardships in their life. you’ll have gone through things that not many people would have the ability to go through after such a small amount of time.
