A netizen shared how a customer scolded him in the most professional way when they were working on the customer’s order.
Here is the story
Last October, I had to prepare a custom order and calculate the price before actually working on it. As a company policy, we always anounce a prize and show an approximation made on a pc to show an approximation of what it will looks like, and we begin the work only when both (visualisation and price) are validated.
That customer is a professional (with decades of experience in their field) and has been working with us for years, so they know how we proceed and has our pricing. For that kind of work, we need a few informations like colour and size.
And they only gave us the baseline of what they wanted, without any colour or size. I had only the bare minimum to work with. And that kind of work has a LOT of different options possible.
Seeing as we only had 2 weeks to finish the order, I tried calling them a few times but to no avail.
So I emailed them asking the details, which are essentials.
Their answer, days later? “Use your experience and knowledge to determine the informations you need.”
That is both the best and the worst “F you” I ever got from a customer.
(They ended up bringing us a huge piece of material to work on, after the due date for the end of the work, and it was very delayed due to us not having other orders to do. Next time they’ll maybe remember to give us details.
If not our boss said to decline doing it entirely, period)
Netizens’ comments
“Okay… Based on my knowledge and experience, your order will be delayed until you answer my questions.”
