Ang Say Chee, 60-years-old, used a chopper to chop down a papaya tree that belonged to the Bishan-Toa Payoh Town Council because he believed that it was possessed by evil spirits.

He then threatened an elderly woman with the chopper after chopping down the upper half of the papaya tree.
Ang was subsequently sentenced to 3 weeks jail on 7 May after pleading guilty to one charge of criminal intimidation by raising his chopper at the woman, another 2 charges were considered during sentencing.
