all the jobs i thought where “good” growing up.. turned out to be crap
when i was a kid i would look at “office” people and think wow they dont have to go do physical labor and they have clean looking clothes and nice cars. it must be really awesome working in an office.
fast forward i have been working in various office settings for the last 10 years.. and they are all shit.
except of course upper management.
how did office work seem so great back then..
Even the “hard” jobs like factory work don’t even pay anything any more. i make more sitting on my bottom doing data entry now than I would if I went and worked in a hot warehouse doing heavy lifting.. and neither pay worth a damn anyway.

- Honestly you can make ok money at the right place, there’s alot of leadership jobs they would probably qualify for also that pay better.
I work maintenance and it’s kind of a dream job, I get paid to fix stuff in a climate controlled environment and they need me.
The wrong machine goes down the whole warehouse is waiting for it to come back up. I can move anywhere and they hire internally before someone on the outside.
Labor jobs are coming back because now they involve a lot more tech sometimes robotics and surprise no one still wants to do them lol - I learned this on my first job. Theater. I thought I was the luckiest kid in the world. I get to work at the MOVIES! Popcorn! Video games! Tickets!
It’s not even about the hidden stuff. It’s just the nature of being forced to be somewhere, put up with people who think they own you. It made me question the point of civilization. I became a futurist.
Now I’m just nothing. Now I’m just tired. - Work from home office job is probably the best thing you can get. Don’t have to deal with coworkers for the most part. Or commute.
- Did the office thing for over a decade after college and hated every single second. I’d put it just barely above retail.
Switched industries, job tracks, and got out of the 9-5 thing (and the office) and wouldn’t go back without a huge pay raise.Â
