A video emerged online showing a man using his phone and jaywalking at the same time, and the man almost got run over by a car.

Following the close shave with the car, the man then jumped and turned around, running back to the side of the road.
The man was seen wholly focused on his phone while he was jaywalking and not even looking out for cars.
He then realised that there was a car heading towards him, and he then jumped up in shock and hurriedly turned around.
Potential penalties
Persons caught jaywalking can be fined $20 on the spot. They can also be charged and fined up to $1,000, or jailed up to three months.
