Being a filial son, he asks his mother to move in with his wife and him only to face strong and violent objections from his wife as she does not like having other people in their living space.

He feels very conflicted as his wife gave him the ultimatum to choose between his mother or her.

Here is the story

“So my dad had gone on to the afterlife quite recently and left my mother and I behind in this world.

I am a only child and have been brought up by both of my parents who strived and worked hard to bring me up and ensure that I have an education and a good life.

I never had to worry about anything when I was young and whenever I had any issues, my parents were always there for me.

You could say that I have a loving family and we are quite close knitted. I married my wife few years back and moved out of my parents to stay with her in our new flat.

My dad had been suffering from an illness for quite some time and he eventually passed on in recent days.

Being close to my mother and not wanting to see her live and grief alone, I asked her to come over to my place to stay together with my wife and I as my childhood home was too far away and staying at my place would make it more convenient for me to look after my mother.

However, I am facing strong objection from my wife.

First of all, she does not like people in our house except for when she have no choice but to entertain such as during CNY.

Secondly, she has been seeing too many of her friends having mother in law problems as most of them lived with their in laws.

I tried explaining to her that this would only be temporary and my mother has been so nice to her during our courtship days to when we eventually settled down but she just will not budge.

Today, she threw me an ultimatum and said that if my mother were to come over and live here even for a day, she would move back to her parents house and not come back until my mother moves back.

She further says that if I can have my own point of view, she can also have her opinions.

I am at a loss of what to do as both people are dear to me.

What should I do?”
