GUY WAS COMMANDO SERGEANT IN NS – “CAN I USE IT TO ASK FOR HIGHER SALARY FOR 1ST JOB”

I was a specialist during my NS days with the Commandos, can I use it to my advantage and mention it to my employers to get a higher salary for my first full time job?

I applied for a business development position and they expressed interest in hiring me, and we will be discussing prospective salary matters in a few days.

The company also pays additional salary for NS experience although they are not affiliated with the government or anything, and I need some advice.

I was a sergeant during my NS days and can I use it to ask for higher salary? Because off the top of my head, the only reasons I can think off would be

  1. Only a percentage of better performing recruits get to make it to SCS and become a sergeant and only another percentage of those who make it to SCS, make it through SCS and get the rank.
  2. I learned how to be a leader as a sergeant, and organise my men during missions, and management and planning skills which i can use in the business world.
  3. I had bigger responsibilities than the troopers, and sergeants are generally fitter than the normal men, plus I was in Commandos, which is an elite force.

Are these reasons enough to warrant or even ask for a higher salary? If not, then what should I do to get a higher salary?
