HAI DI LAO STAFF @ NORTHPOINT CITY CHARGED CUSTOMER $1.05 FOR $105 MEAL

In a noteworthy incident at the Haidilao outlet located in Northpoint City, a mother and daughter duo displayed exceptional integrity by returning to the restaurant after realizing they had been undercharged for their meal.

Taking to her personal TikTok account (@jesssoolio), the daughter, named Jess, shared their story, receiving commendations from online users.

According to Jess’s TikTok video, the staff accidentally billed her only S$1.05 instead of the correct amount of S$105 for their Haidilao meal in Yishun.

Upon examining the receipts, it appears that the mistake occurred when a decimal point was inadvertently entered while processing the payment on the card terminal.

Jess revealed that they had been enjoying an early Mother’s Day lunch together that day.

However, when they checked their credit card statement upon leaving, they noticed an error in the total amount charged.

Thought it was a credit card fee

Initially, they mistook the S$1.05 as an additional credit card fee, but after verifying their bank account, Jess confirmed that there was indeed an error in the bill.

Jess added that they initially had reservations about returning to the restaurant, fearing that the discrepancy had not yet been detected by the bank.

Nevertheless, they were concerned about the potential repercussions faced by the staff member who had processed their payment and ultimately decided to seek clarification.

Staff used colleague’s account to generate bill

According to Jess, when they approached the manager and explained the situation, he attempted to locate the staff member whose name appeared on the bill.

To their surprise, the person identified by the manager was not the same individual who had processed their payment earlier.

It turned out that the responsible staff member had used their colleague’s account when generating the bill.

Once the situation was understood, the restaurant staff expressed gratitude towards Jess and her mother for their honesty.

Had it not been for their upright actions, the staff member whose name was on the bill would have been held liable for the outstanding amount.

Jess further revealed that the manager promptly voided the initial transaction and correctly billed them the appropriate amount.

As a gesture of appreciation for their integrity, the mother and daughter also received vouchers for future visits to the restaurant.
