HarbourFront Centre To Close On Jul. 27 For Major Redevelopment, Set To Reopen In 2031

Singapore’s HarbourFront Centre will cease operations on Jul. 27, 2026, as the iconic waterfront mall prepares for a major redevelopment project that will transform the site into a new 33-storey mixed-use development.

The closure marks the beginning of a large-scale project that will introduce new office and retail spaces, alongside a sprawling elevated park that connects visitors to the waterfront.

The redevelopment is part of broader plans to support the growth of Singapore’s Greater Southern Waterfront precinct.

Singapore Cruise Centre To Relocate In July

Ahead of the mall’s closure, the Singapore Cruise Centre will relocate to a new passenger terminal at 5 HarbourFront Avenue from Jul. 15, 2026.

The new facility will be situated less than 70 metres away from its current location.

According to the Singapore Cruise Centre, Batam Fast Ferry will be the first operator to begin operations at the new terminal on Jul. 7.

The remaining ferry operators — Horizon Fast Ferry, Majestic Fast Ferry, Sindo Ferry and Indo Falcon Shipping & Travel — together with cruise operations, will transition to the new location from Jul. 15.

Travellers can expect minimal disruption during the move, as ferry routes, destinations and schedules will remain unchanged.

HarbourFront Centre has housed the Singapore Cruise Centre’s international ferry terminal since 1992 and has served as a key gateway connecting Singapore to neighbouring destinations for more than three decades.

New 33-Storey Development Planned

Following redevelopment works, HarbourFront Centre is expected to reopen during the first half of 2031.

The new 123,000-square-metre development will comprise office and retail components and is being positioned as a flagship commercial project within the Greater Southern Waterfront master plan.

One of its key highlights will be a 13,000-square-metre elevated park, offering visitors a green space that stretches towards the waterfront.

The building will also feature a verdant façade, with greenery cascading from the office tower down to the elevated park, creating a more sustainable and visually appealing environment.

Part Of Singapore’s Greater Southern Waterfront Vision

The redevelopment aligns with Singapore’s long-term plans to revitalise the southern coastline and create a vibrant waterfront district that combines commercial, recreational and lifestyle offerings.

Once completed, the new HarbourFront Centre is expected to become a modern destination that strengthens connectivity between HarbourFront, the cruise terminal and the surrounding Greater Southern Waterfront developments.

In the meantime, visitors planning to use ferry services can continue doing so as usual, with operations simply shifting to the nearby terminal from mid-July 2026.
