Iris Koh Shu Cii, founder of anti-vaccination group Healing the Divide was slapped with new charges after she tore up a police statement.
While in remand, she complained of anxiety and discomfort, She allegedly shouted vulgarities at an officer and refused to be sent to the IMH.
Her actions of tearing up the police statement yielded her yet another new charge for Obstructing public servant in discharge of his/her public functions.
Bail
She was offered bail of $20,000 as she is no longer required for investigations, previously her bail on Lunar New Year Eve was denied as she was impeding investigations and uncooperative throughout her time in remand.
The hearing stated that Koh must not be in contact with Jipson Quah, the doctor who is facing similar charges such as alleged vaccination fraud.
CNA reported, Another condition for her bail was that Koh must not contact any of the members in Healing the Divide, but her defense lawyer said that such conditions are “appears overly broad”.
Investigations revealed that there are at least 6,000 members in Healing the Divide.
Potential Penalties
Koh will be back in court on March 14.
If Koh is found guilty of obstructing a public servant in the discharge of their public functions she can face up to 3 months in jail and/or fine $2,500.
If Koh is found guilty of criminal conspiracy she can be jailed up to 20 years and/or fine.
