HEAVY POLICE PRESENCE AFTER FIGHT @ TEKKA CENTRE, 2 MEN ARRESTED

A 31-year-old and 34-year-old man was arrested following a fight that broke out at Tekka Centre on the night of 3 May.

A video emerged online showing the aftermath of the fracas, with several police officers being seen at the scene and the two men being arrested.

The police were seen talking to a man wearing a yellow shirt prior to arresting him, and he was then brought to a police vehicle with another man in black also being arrested.

The police confirmed that they were alerted to a fight breaking out at 665 Buffalo Road, with a spokesperson for the police saying:

“Two men, aged 31 and 34, were arrested for their suspected involvement in the case of affray,” a police spokesman said.”

At the time of writing, police investigations are still ongoing.

Potential penalties

According to Chapter 224 of the Penal Code, anyone who disturbs public peace by fighting in public is guilty of committing an affray.

Upon conviction, offenders could face a jail term of up to one year and/or a fine of up to $5,000.

According to Chapter 321 of the Penal Code, anyone who performs an act that causes hurt to a person is guilty of Voluntarily Causing Hurt.

Upon conviction, offenders could face a jail term of up to 3 years and/or a fine of up to $5,000.
