Hornbills eat a great variety of animals such as small reptiles, mammals with fruits and berries are all part of their diet. There are also several videos of the hornbill breaking into birdcages to eat other birds.
What they eat
The Oriental Pied Hornbill feeds mainly on fruit such as Knema globularia, but also take small animals such as reptiles, birds and mammals. They nest in suitable hole in tree.The female hornbill is sealed inside the hole with a plaster of mud and fibres. The male gathers and delivers earth and food to the female. A narrow slit is left open to allow the male to feed the female and the chicks. The male brings mostly fruits, insects and lizards, and sometimes small birds.
