I worked in HR for slightly more than 10 years. And I find that there is a general misconception that HR is to help the employees. I mean yes, we sometimes conduct employee engagement survey to find out who are the tyrants with power within the organisations. We also create employee engagement events to keep our employees morale high. We also suggest certain incentive plans for management to approve and create a performance based culture. All these are strategic moves to really help the employees in the long term.
But please do not come to us to solve all your minor details at work or happenings in ur personal life. HR is overloaded with operational duties like recruitment and payroll. We really do not have the time to sit with you to listen to your sob stories about how someone who did not help u do ur work is a bad person. Please take ownership of your work. Do you know we sometimes also want to rant about our team or superior but we have no one to turn to. At least other department has employee engagement survey conducted by HR to hear them out. But no one conduct EES for HR.
