Singapore’s Health Sciences Authority (HSA) has been awarded the highest level for its medicines regulatory system, the Maturity Level 4, by the World Health Organization.
Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong shared the news on his Facebook, congratulating the HSA team, and highlighting that Singaproe is the first member state of WHO to achieve an accreditation of Level 4.
Here is his statement
Delighted that the Health Sciences Authority (HSA) has been awarded the highest level – Maturity Level 4 – for its medicines regulatory system by the World Health Organization (WHO).
Singapore is the first WHO Member State to achieve Level 4 accreditation. HSA’s medicines regulatory system is now globally recognised to be operating at an advanced level of performance and continuous improvement. It is external validation of the high standards, quality and rigour of HSA’s regulatory work.
As the national regulatory body for medicines, HSA plays an important role in addressing our evolving healthcare needs. We benefited tremendously from HSA’s expedited evaluation process to review COVID-19 vaccines. We rolled out vaccination programmes safely, efficiently and quickly, and saved many lives.
It has taken much dedication and hard work by the HSA team to get here. Congratulations! – LHL
