The husband of a fourth grade teacher, who died trying to protect her students during the Texas elementary school shooting, has died from a heart attack.
The husband, Joe Garcia, was in the midst of preparing the funeral for his wife of 24 years, Mrs Irma Garcia, when he suddenly collapsed and passed away on 26 May.
The cousin of his late wife, Debra Austin, said that she believes her brother-in-law died from a broken heart and losing the love of his life.
The man’s nephew, John Martinez, shared the heartbreaking news onto his Twitter account @fuhknjo, saying:
“EXTREMELY heartbreaking and come with deep sorrow to say that my Tia Irma’s husband Joe Garcia has passed away due to grief,
i truly am at a loss for words for how we are all feeling, PLEASE PRAY FOR OUR FAMILY, God have mercy on us, this isn’t easy.”
The couple, who were married for 24 years and met when they were in high school, leaves behind four children.
