A Hwa Chong Institution counsellor got himself into “hot waters” after content that was offensive to the LGBTQ community was used in a presentation, a netizen took photos of the incident and posted it on social media before it went viral on Instagram.
The content he used in his presentation is unapproved material.
The school is aware of the incident and the counsellor has since been take off the duties of giving such lessons of the same nature.
The school stated that the content that was put up in the presentation is not the position of the school and it is of the individual staff’s personal perspective.

Thank you for your feedback and concerns with regard to Wednesday’s assembly session. We appreciate your comments and reflections, and for reaching out to us directly.
The school takes a serious view of the matter. Principal Mr Pang and the school leaders will be addressing the entire Sec 4 cohort next Monday (18 Jul).
Please report to the High School Auditorium at 7.30 am for the morning flag-raising, followed by the session. You need not report to the school terraces.
