There’s an official job description, expectations and benefits for my role available online in my company. What I’m getting paid is lower than the lowest bracket posted online.
I talked to my colleague. He’s in a lower position and earning more than me.
Some of my peers are often delivering bugged, half-assed work that I have to fix after them. I got so used to fixing things they don’t understand or care to do well.
They talk down to me. They mansplain. They treat me like I don’t know what I’m talking about, while I’m often left to clean up their mess. They work less hours, less hard, cooperate less and vacation more than me.
I just want to feel valued for once.
Edited to add:
This is a vent. This is validation for the women who are in the same situation. This is a shout-in-the-dark for people who are saying the wage gap doesn’t exist.
This post doesn’t mean I’m not addressing this issue. I have built a great career despite wage gap, bias, harassment, etc. I’m aware there are negotiation tactics, laws and the options for a new job. I just wanted to vent today.
