ICA officials sent the cargo for supervised unstuffing at the importer’s facilities after seeing certain abnormalities in the scanned picture of a 40ft shipping container, and duty-unpaid cigarettes were discovered concealed in the tyres.

A total of 530 packages equivalent to 10,600 sticks of duty-unpaid cigarettes were confiscated and the matter was forwarded to Singapore Customs for further investigation.
