No happily ever after

ICA officers at Woodlands checkpoint directed a Malaysia-registered car, driven by a 22-year-old female Malaysian work permit holder, for further checks on 31 Jul at about 4.55am. During the checks, a total of 162 cartons and 1,208 packets of duty-unpaid cigarettes were found hidden in various compartments of the car.

The case was referred to Singapore Customs for further investigations.

This method of concealment is a cause for concern as similar methods may be used by people with ill intent to smuggle security items into Singapore.
