Earlier this month, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) conducted enforcement operations targeting drivers and motorcyclists providing illegal car-pooling and motorcycle pooling services. Two drivers and one motorcyclist were caught and had their vehicles impounded for further investigation.

LTA advises commuters to prioritize their safety and book point-to-point transport services, including commercial car-pooling services, through licensed business platforms. It is important to note that offering illegal car or motorcycle pooling services without a vocational license or using an unlicensed vehicle is punishable by law. Those found guilty could face fines of up to $3,000 and/or up to six months imprisonment.
Illegal car-pooling and motorcycle pooling services not only pose safety risks to commuters but also undermine the legitimacy of licensed business platforms. By using licensed platforms, commuters can ensure that they are using safe and reliable transportation services.
Here is what LTA said on Facebook:

“Earlier this month, we carried out enforcement operations against drivers and motorcyclists offering illegal car-pooling services and motorcycle pooling services. Two drivers and one motorcyclist were booked and their vehicles impounded for further investigations.
For commuters’ own safety, we strongly encourage those who wish to book point-to-point transport services, including commercial car-pooling services, to do so via licensed business platforms.
Reminder: Those who offer illegal car or motorcycle pooling services without a vocational license or use an unlicensed vehicle could face up to $3,000 in fines and/or up to 6 months imprisonment if found guilty.”
LTA takes a serious stance against illegal car-pooling and motorcycle pooling services and will continue to conduct enforcement operations to ensure the safety of commuters and maintain the integrity of the transportation industry. It is crucial for all drivers and motorcyclists to comply with the regulations and obtain the necessary vocational licenses and use licensed vehicles to provide transportation services.
In conclusion, commuters are strongly encouraged to use only licensed business platforms when booking point-to-point transport services, including commercial car-pooling services. By doing so, they can ensure their safety and support the legitimate transportation industry.
