Rivalry between my in laws
Are there any married couples out there who can give me advice regarding dealing with a in law? My case is with a sister in law.
2 weeks ago, my family and I have planned for a staycation for Christmas. We intended to book a 5 star hotel locally in Singapore on Xmas Eve, stayed there for two nights and returned to SG on 26th Dec, in short just to enjoy our Christmas holidays. We are a Singaporean family. I am staying with my husband and his parents.
My Malaysian sister-in-law ( my husband’s brother wife) asked my parents-in-law not to spend their holidays with me and my husband. My sister-in-law mentioned that her own parents are coming to visit SG next month and she state that they will bring my parents overseas instead. My parents have never been on a plane ride before and they are hesitating to join my husband and I for our staycay. My sister-in-law even mentioned to the parents that I am not rich, if they come with me, we can’t afford to get them good food and let them enjoy. My sister-in-law claims that her parents are ultra-rich folks who own big businesses in Malaysia.
My husband and I aren’t rich. He’s the sole breadwinner. Due to liver disease, I can’t work so our funds are limited. The money for our year end holidays is mostly though months of saving up. The only country we have visited so far in life is Malaysia. My sister in law have always disliked me that I am just a housewife and being useless.
How will you guys deal with an in law like this? Any similar experiences? I am very upset and annoyed that our year end holiday is getting spoilt.
