
India is facing a national crisis, with the country’s daily Covid-19 cases hitting 346,786 on 24 April.
They have set a new world record for the third consecutive day.
They have also seen 2,767 deaths in 1 day (24 April), making it the highest daily rate in the country.
The ailing country has a population of 1.3 billion people, with 16.6 million cases in total so far, which includes 189,544 deaths.
As the country’s hospitals are getting overwhelmed, the Indian government has deployed military planes to get oxygen tanks sourced from the rest of their country, as well as neighbouring countries including Singapore, to Delhi.
The situation is very severe, as they are seeing 1 Covid-19 death every 4 minutes.
Yet despite this emergency, the country has yet to announce any national lockdown plans.
India is also facing a shortage of vaccines, despite administering more than 130 million doses so far.
They are reportedly facing a shortage of vaccines after giving away many vaccines in early 2021 to generate international goodwill.
