INDIA: MAN DECEIVED TO UNDERGO GENDER REASSIGNMENT SURGERY TO BECOME WOMAN

In a shocking and disturbing incident, a 20-year-old man named Mujahid was allegedly deceived into undergoing gender reassignment surgery without his consent at a medical college in Uttar Pradesh’s Muzaffarnagar. The incident has sparked widespread outrage and protests, with the Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) demanding immediate action against those involved.

According to Mujahid, he was tricked by a man named Omprakash, who colluded with doctors at the Begrajpur Medical College in Mansoorpur to perform the surgery. Mujahid claimed that Omprakash had been harassing and threatening him for two years, and on June 3, he was falsely told that he had a medical issue requiring hospital inspection. Accompanied by Omprakash, Mujahid visited the facility, where he was administered anaesthesia and underwent the sex-change operation without his knowledge or consent.

When Mujahid regained consciousness, he was told that he had been transformed from a man to a woman. Omprakash allegedly threatened him, saying that he would now have to live with him and that no one from his family or community would accept him anymore. Omprakash also threatened to shoot Mujahid’s father and seize his share of the family land.

The incident has sparked widespread outrage, with BKU workers, led by farmer leader Shyam Pal, staging a protest at the medical college, demanding immediate action against Omprakash and the involved doctors. The police have assured the demonstrators that a thorough investigation would be conducted.

Shyam Pal claimed that this incident points to a larger issue of organ trafficking in the hospital, alleging that there is a racket operating within the hospital that targets individuals for organ harvesting and gender reassignment without consent. He demanded that the illegal business of selling body parts be stopped immediately and that all those involved, including the hospital management and those who facilitated this crime, be held accountable and punished.

Mujahid’s father has filed a police complaint, which led to Omprakash’s arrest. However, Shyam Pal criticized the police for their lax attitude and called for stricter action. He also demanded compensation of at least ₹ 2 crore for Mujahid, whose life has been severely affected by this traumatic incident.

The police have assured that all allegations made by the family and the protestors will be thoroughly investigated, and appropriate legal actions will be taken against those found guilty. Besides arresting Omprakash, the police are also investigating the hospital staff involved in the case.

This incident raises serious concerns about the safety and security of individuals, particularly in medical institutions, and highlights the need for stricter regulations and oversight to prevent such heinous crimes. It also underscores the importance of consent and the need to protect individuals from exploitation and abuse.
