My girlfriend goes though my phone all the time and I am getting really tired of it.
When me and my girlfriend first got together, she talked about transparency and how she had a lot of trust issues because of her past relationships.
She wanted the passcode to my phone. I completely understand as I have been burned in the past by multiple partners previously and I agreed.
I was going to let her have the passcode to my phone anyway because, you know, she’s my SO and I expect her to be able to access my stuff.
Initially, I thought her accessing my phone would just be an occasional thing. Like, she can’t find her phone and uses mine to call it or just “Hey, I’m bored. I’m going to play games on your phone.”
What she wanted access to my phone for, I was not prepared for. Every night, around 2-3 am when I am completely passed out, she goes through everything.
She goes through my chat apps. She goes through my browser history. She opens my password manager and views which accounts I have accessed and then she tries to log in to them.
When I started getting login notifications for my accounts at 2 am, I thought I was being hacked at first. She goes through my account activity on google. I mean she goes through everything.
The sad thing is, I don’t even think she’s going to be surprised about her Christmas gift since I made the mistake of discussing it with a friend over text.
I’ve tried to be patient with her because I understand that she’s very insecure because of what happened in the past but she makes not want to own a smartphone anymore. I can’t tell if I’m living with my partner or a private investigator hired to dig up dirt on me.
