A Singapore Uncensored reader recently shared his negative experience that he is currently facing with his current local girlfriend which is taking a toll on his current finances.

I am a 30 year old Singaporean who is actually planning to marry my current girlfriend but I’m currently having my doubts on this relationship. I have been together with my girlfriend for close to 10 years since my university days but I have felt that she has changed since she took up her latest job 4 years ago.
My girlfriend is 2 years younger than me and everything was going well but things have gone down the drain after she started her job as an insurance agent. Everyone should have friends who are in the insurance agency and many of you guys who have such people as your Facebook friends can see how they love to show the glamour side of the insurance industry.
Many are seen taking pictures of fancy galas where all the girls are dressed in expensive dresses and they can be seen sipping expensive champagne. They will also post their pictures of their exotic company European trips and how they tend to spend on luxury brands. My girlfriend was one of them and she started to fall into this spiral of greed. She would spend money that she did not have on branded bags such as Hermes and Chanel. She even bought a condominium and a BMW for her parents as she thought she was doing well.
But the reason for her wealth was due to me. She forced me to ask my family members to purchase various insurance plans from her. This included my parents, cousins and also my close friends. It was till I exhausted all means to help her that she finally got pissed with me for the smallest reasons. And due to the current Covid pandemic, she has forced me to pay for her parent’s car and housing loans as well.
I am a frugal person and I do not drink nor smoke nor indulge in any expensive hobbies. I am currently working as a manager in the logistics industry and all the money that I have saved up for our wedding has been drained. This was due to helping my girlfriend pay her debts and also shouldering the loans of her parent’s condominium and car loan.
I wonder whether she’s the right person for me or if this evil industry is the cause of her bad influence. I am in a state of dilemma right now.
