A 10-year-old boy was ganged up on by 4 of his international school classmates for not speaking English, and they allegedly even pulled down his pants, according to Shin Min Daily News.
According to the boy’s mother, the boy also suffered injuries from the incidents, and she has since filed a police report.
The mother of the boy, 40-year-old Ms Ma who works as a bank manager, spoke to Shin Min Daily News, saying that the alleged ordeal that her son went through started in August last year.
Ma came to Singapore from China with her two sons and mother last year to live and work here.
Her son, who is in Primary 4 and studying at an international school at Katong, was made fun of by four of his classmates because he couldn’t speak English.
The harassment escalated and they started pushing the boy and using vulgarities on him, but the boy told his mother that he didn’t want her to complain to the school.
Ma then found scratched on the boy’s back, with the latter revealing that he was scratched by his classmates but insisted on not complaining to the school.
Ma then added that the same classmate then pushed her son onto a wall on 3 June, resulting in his forehead being swollen.
The boy then allegedly tripped the boy on 17 August, resulting in abrasions on his elbows and knees.
Ma added that she finally received an explanatory email from the school, and the classmate’s parents also apologised to her.
However, the harassment didn’t stop there – four of the classmates then allegedly pulled the boy’s pants off repeatedly and allegedly punched him as well on 29 AUgust at about 8.10am.
The attacks would purportedly take place whenever a teacher wasn’t present, and they happened at places all over the school, including the canteen, corridor, toilet entraces, classrooms and school field.
In one of the attacks, the boy was leaving the toilet when the four classmates pushed him onto the ground and took off his pants.
One of the attackers then continued to punch him on the face for about 3 to 5 minutes as the victim protested, and he ended up bleeding.
The Singapore Police Force confirmed that they are investigating the case after Ma filed a police report against the classmates.
