26-year-old Rishi Kumar, visited a Taoist temples at Arumugam Road a few years ago to pray for love and marriage.
His wish finally came true on 21 October 2022, when he married his 30-year-old bride Jiang at the Lorong Koo Chye Sheng Hong Temple.
Speaking to Shin Min Daily News in fluent Mandarin, Kumar said that he first met Jiang at a Taoist temple a few years ago and had just finished praying for love and fortune.
He then planted his joss stick, before turning around and seeing Jiang, who was working at the temple – he said that it was love at first sight and he walked over to speak to her.
The couple first met when they were in their early 20s, Kumar was 20 while Jiang was 24.
But she was hesitant about the relationship because of their age difference and felt that Kumar might be too young for her.
But Kumar didn’t give up and continued visiting the temple where she works, to pray and spend time with her – and after 5 years of perseverance, they are finally together.
They started dating last January before deciding to solemnise their marriage at the temple.
