The President’s office said yesterday (26 April) that the grounds of the Istana will be open to all visitors on 7 May, from 9am to 5pm.
The open house on 7 May will be free and open to all, and there will no longer be a need to apply for tickets.
This is to mark both public holidays of Labour Day and Hari Raya Puasa, which will be falling on 1 and 3 May.
The open house also marks the first time the Istana is open to the public since the onset of the pandemic a little over 2 years ago.
Here is the statement from the Istana
The Labour Day – Hari Raya Puasa Istana Open House (IOH) will be held on Saturday, 7 May 2022. The IOH will be open to all visitors between 9am to 5pm. There will be no charges to enter the Istana grounds.
For the first time since the start of the pandemic, visitors to the IOH will be able to purchase admission passes to enter the Main Building, where they can visit selected function rooms and have the opportunity to view a collection of State Gifts as well as the room set-ups for state events. There will be no performances, tours, or food trucks at this IOH. Safe management measures will be in place to ensure the safety of all visitors.
The fees for the admission passes to the Istana Main Building are listed below. All fees collected will go towards charities supported by President’s Challenge.
In line with prevailing safe management measures, visitors should remain masked at all times when indoors. Safe distancing ambassadors will help to ensure that visitors observe all safe management measures. The Istana seeks visitors’ cooperation and understanding so that the IOH will be a pleasant experience for all.
The President’s Office thanks everyone who had responded to the earlier invitation to apply for tickets to this IOH. In view of the easing of SMM from 26 April 2022, there is no longer a need to apply for tickets to enter the Istana grounds for this IOH.
Do check back for details on future IOHs.
