My name is Mohd Firas Bin Mohd Ali, I am year 2 nitec student from Laser & Tooling Technology at College Central HQ. Recently, I’ve faced some adversities in my life however today just took the icing on the cake which is why I have decided to pour my feelings out. I am not looking for sympathy I am merely looking for an outlet before I lose my head. So here it goes..
On the 8th of February, I found my wallet missing and assumed I had lost it only to later on find out that it was actually stolen.. by someone I know.. and there is CCTV footage of it..
To shed some light here is exactly what happened.
It was during lunch, my friends and I went with our usual routine of hanging out at the library after our meal. We had seen a group of our classmates and decided to join them. There were no seats so I leaned against the table instead. The table was wobbly and the impact of me leaning against the table woke up one of my classmates, Benjamin who was sleeping on it. He put his head up, looked at me and said “F**K OFF!”. I apologised, saying “I’m sorry..” and went to sit on the floor leaving my wallet and my bag on the table. I played my usual phone game together with my friends until it was time for class.
As soon as we left the library I realised my wallet was not with me. I did your usual “check everywhere on yourself and belongings first” routine before rushing back to the library with my friend Furhan to look for it, however my wallet was nowhere to be found.
Remembering that some of my classmates were there with me at the library when I had my wallet earlier, I took it upon myself to post in the whatsapp group as well as all my social media platform hoping that one of them would have found it.
I then went around to the librarian, customer service as well as SGOs to see if anyone had found my wallet with no luck. My sisters told me that there was a CCTV camera in the library and pushed me to get the SGOs to review the footage. I did so however it did take several time asking different SGOs as well as several days before the female SGO got back to me.
I later on found out that they had seen Benjamin taking my wallet and had spoken to him first in the morning that day before contacting me and seeing me that same day in the afternoon. Before I was contacted by the SGO that day, Benjamin sent me a whatsapp and in it stating that he was the one who stole my wallet he has already thrown it away, and he was not sorry about it. He also informed me that another one of my classmate, Malcom knew about it.
I then contacted my sister and told her about it, she came to my classroom to come see me without my knowledge to check if I was okay and ask me to keep calm and informed me she would come by after my school had ended that day to speak to my teacher about the matter. She had also informed the teacher in charge of that lesson that I had just gone through some personal matters and that this event may upset me further urging the teacher to let me go out of class to stay calm.
Later on my form teacher Mr Yap had called me out of class, before I could do so Malcom whom had been staring at me the entire day making me feel uncomfortable started nodding his head up at and down at me aggressively. I got agitated and asked him “WHAT U WANT”. He asked me back what I wanted. I ignored him and continued walking out to meet Mr Yap when he stood up clenched his fist and signalled that he wanted to punch me.
I challenged him to punch me and tapped my faced. He just stood still for a few seconds long so I just went back to walking out and shouted “f**king pussy”. He threw a chair towards my direction but it missed me and hit my lifeskills teacher, Ms Cindy. Mr Yap brought me to another classroom to cool off. Once the lifeskills class ended he brought me back to the classroom. Ms Cindy continuously blamed me for what she had witnessed and called me a bully without asking me anything at all.
I was frustrated and felt as though everyone in the room was against me. A few moments later my sister arrived with her boyfriend as she had arranged with me earlier. She was upset to find me so agitated and asked me what had happened. After gathering the information from me she made me calm down.
When she tried to speak to Ms Cindy to explained to her the incident that happened earlier on, Ms Cindy spoke over her and told me “Firas it’s your fault who asked you to bang Benjamin’s table when his sleeping. You irritate people so you deserve what happened to you.”
My sister was shocked and extremely upset by what she said telling Ms Cindy, “How can you say that it is his fault. Do you even know the entire story? And I don’t understand why there are so many students here and all giggling and laughing at that while my brother is so agitated and upset during this investigation!”
Ms Cindy went on to say, “Who is laughing” before looking around sarcastically and then at each of the boys faces and going “i don’t see anyone laughing” while the rest of the boys continued to giggle sheepishly.
My sister annoyed pointed out “they’re giggling now”.
To which Ms Cindy replied, “I already released all of them so it’s up to them what they want to do, I
Can’t control their actions.”
Irritated by how the whole event was leading nowhere, my sister’s boyfriend stepped in and spoke to Mr Yap and they both concluded that my sister’s boyfriend would follow Mr Yap and myself to lodge a report with Mr Yap while my sister went back to work.
My post seems to be getting to lengthy so here’s a series of what happened afterwards:
• Basically I was coaxed repeatedly not to make a police report regarding the matter
• After insisting the importance of the police report in order to get my important cards replace such as my IC, I was coaxed to falsify my report to state that I had misplaced and lost my wallet instead
• I was told that no actions would be taken against the boys
• One of the SGO informed us that while writing his statement Benjamin was not at all remorseful
• We were told his parents would not be called as they were on a holiday in Switzerland
• My sister came to join us after her work, said that it was against the law the make a falsified report and felt that my father needed to be informed and step in instead
• My dad was informed. We filed a police report against both boys and took time off work to see my section head, Mr Sia and was ignored by him
• After my father insisted to wait for my section head an SGO, Safarudin stepped in and brought my father to his office instead
• He implied to my father that he we were more than able to replace the wallet and the IC
• He then went on to let my father know that we either make a police report or
• Benjamin’s sister got involved and there was a meeting planned between them my father & myself together with Mr Yap and Safarudin
• It was agreed that we would drop the police report and would be reimburse for my wallet and it’s entire contents ( Between Benjamin and myself witnessed by Safarudin)
• We dropped the police report
• 2 weeks after I was to receive the reimbursement, I heard nothing from Benjamin or Safarudin
• My sister casually came to meet me while I was at the stadium seating with my classmates
• My form teacher saw her and assumed she had wanted to meet him regarding the reimbursement issue
• I told him that was not the case but he checked with me and realised I still had not been reimbursed
• He assured me he would get the SGO to see me the next day
• The SGO came to see me today and to pass the message on to me that Benjamin had informed his father and his father says if I still want the money I have to go through their lawyer
