Former Mediacorp actor, 49-year-old Ix Shen, shared that he has safely reached the Ukrainian city of Lviv on the Western side of the country with his Ukrainian wife, amid the advancing Russian forces.
He posted an update onto his Instagram account on 10 March, sharing that he was “safe and okay” along with his wife.
He shared that he was in Lviv with his wife because the owner of the car that they were driving resides there at the moment, so they acted as valet drivers for the owner.
He said in his video that he is really grateful that he and his wife could sleep quietly without the sounds of explosions and air raid sirens.
But he added that he also feels guilty that they are drinking cappuccinos and walking in the park.
Ever since the Russian invasion commenced on the tail end of February, Shen has become somewhat of an “accidental war correspondent” for Singapore.
He has been living in Kyiv over the last 4 months, with his Ukrainian wife Natalia, who is a Chinese traditional medicine practitioner.
Shen then updated again that Lviv is also seeing airstrikes, with the sudden influx of people into the city being “straining”.
He said that he will continue evaluating the situation with his wife and decide what to do next as they go, but he allayed people’s fears by saying “don’t worry, we are all safe and okay, everything is good”.
