After Kong Hee’s conviction was upheld and his jail sentence reduced drastically from 8 years to 3.5 years, the lawyer of Kong Hee, shared with the press that Kong is disappointed with the delivered verdict and that he was unhappy that the conviction was not overturned.

The rest of the convicted CHC leaders had their initial sentences halved but failed to overturn their convictions. The CHC case was the largest amount of charity funds to have been misappropriated in Singapore’s history. $50 million of church donations were used to fund the secular music career of Sun Ho without full knowledge of church members.
