JAIME TEO PLEADS GUILTY TO UNDERPAYING TWELVE CUPCAKES STAFF

Fly Entertainment artiste and Twelve Cupcakes co-founder Jaime Teo Chai Lin, 43, pleaded guilty earlier today (February 4) to offences involving underpaid staff of Twelve Cupcakes.

Twelve Cupcakes was fined $119,500 on January 12 for underpaying 7 of its foreign workers; they were also convicted on December 10 last year for 15 counts of underpaying the employees in 2017 and 2018 – which is an offence under the Employment of Foreign Manpower Act.

It is worth noting that these offences occured after Teo and her ex-husband Daniel Ong (co-founder) sold the business.

But the charges were still handed to the duo, as court documents showed that numerous Twelve Cupcakes employees were underpaid before they sold the business.

They were each facing 24 charges involving 8 employees.

The court heard that Teo had been negligent in her handling of the matter.

She will be sentenced on February 25.
