A temple in Jalan Besar has recently posted on their Facebook page that they will be holding the first ever pet blessing event on the eve of Vesak Day on their premises in celebration of Vesak Day and also in line with Buddha’s Universal love for all creatures including animals.
Apart from the blessing session, there are also other fun filled activities where pet owners can enjoy with their pets.
The activities are all free, according to the temple.

护生祈福晚会 – 给动物朋友们的卫塞祝福
In celebration of Buddha’s Universal Love for all beings including animals, Thekchen Choling is organising our first animal blessing night event on the eve of Vesak Day! Happening on 14th May from 7.30pm to 10.30pm (come any time in between), there will be many fun-filled and interactive activities for you and your pet to enjoy!
𝐀𝐧𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐥 𝐁𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠: Give your pets a special blessing by our Venerables at the temple. The blessings of love and light will allow your pets to create a strong affinity with Buddha, giving them a joyous and unique Vesak experience.
𝐋𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐎𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠: Offer a light together with your pet! Light symbolises hope and lighting a candle for Buddha brings positivity to you and your pet’s life. Make your heartfelt wishes together with your pet to gain merits together as one family.
𝐏𝐚𝐰 𝐏𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠: Watch your pet create a unique art piece for you to enjoy with your family. This interactive activity will be guided by facilitators for your pet to paint with their paws.
𝐂𝐚𝐩𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐌𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬: Capture beautiful photos with our Vesak themed decorations, sky lanterns, and light displays. Create wonderful memories with your family and beloved pets this Vesak!
All activities are free of charge but you may wish to make a freewill donation to our Animal Welfare Fund.
