last night was my first mandopop concert so i went in not expecting anything. i do like jay chou and have listened to quite a lot of his songs and was gifted a pair of CAT 5 tickets. (very grateful for the record)
however, i was very underwhelmed by the concert.. first off, the crowd around me was pretty much dead. everyone was just sitting on the chairs and waving the heart-light thing half-heartedly in their seats. there was barely any enthusiasm that i could feel. (guy beside me was on his phone the entire time surfing the net). i mean.. i get that maybe its cos im in the CAT 5 area which was pretty far from the stage but still, each ticket costs $222 per pax and im pretty sure people who bought these tickets do like jay chou enough to spend that kind of money.
secondly, we were REALLY FAR from the stage. like i literally couldn’t see anything. i had to watch from two huge screens.. plus surrounded by the dead crowd i felt like im at an XXL teo heng room with a bunch of strangers. i honestly do not know why they dont hold concerts at singapore indoor stadium anymore. it’s a lot more concert-friendly and sound system is better + it’s completely indoors.
thirdly, why got so many randos singing jay chou songs ah? i thought i went for a jay chou concert but end up half the time its his (friends? crew? special guests?) singing his songs. and all of his OG songs were also sung by someone else and even then it was only the chorus and not even the full song…. quite disappointing. halfway through the concert suddenly become some taiwan reality show i just –
i feel like im the minority in this??? am i the only one who feels this way???? those who were there on 17th/18th dec can you share your experiences (good/bad/ etc.)
