According to an article by the Straits Times, Jcube shopping mall in Jurong East Central will make way for a 40 storey residential development come 6 August 2023.
The development’s first and second floors would include commercial space.
Development target to complete by 2027
The new development has a targeted completion dateline in 2027.
It would be developed to match the Government’s plans to develop Jurong Lake District as it would add new homes, businesses, amenities and recreational facilities.
It would be linked directly to the Jurong East MRT interchange station, Westgate and also the IMM Building.
It would also be linked to Jurong East Integrated Transport Hub, which is an up and coming development also slated to be completed by 2027.
The Integrated Hub will also consist of an air conditioned bus interchange, a library, a community club and a sports centre alongside other commercial spaces.
JCube be closed on 10pm, Aug 6
JCube will officially close its doors on 6 Aug 2023 at 10pm.
Capitaland, who owns JCube, said that it will be working closely with the current tenants and will provide them with support to ensure that the premises are handed over smoothly.
The development is also expected to be opened up for sale by the second half of 2023.
Largest business district outside Central Singapore
Jurong Lake District development is slated to become the largest business district in Singapore, right outside Central Singapore.
It would also bring about 100,000 new jobs and 20,000 new houses between year 2040 to 2050.
This would add on to about 1 million residents currently already residing in West Singapore.
