A netizen got curious as he did not get a single response after applying for over 100 jobs on Jobsbank.gov.sg. He doubts if Jobs Bank was even real.
Multiple netizens in the thread claim that Jobs Bank is just for show as that are some requirements and regulation involved that’s why they had to post there.
Can anyone verify how true is this?
After looking at it online we found the following article written by The Online CitizenÂ
“We will expand the requirement to advertise jobs on the national Jobs Bank before EP (employment pass) application to cover more employers,” he said.
From Jul 1, companies with 10 or more employees wanting to employ foreigners for jobs paying less than $15,000 a month will need to advertise on the national Jobs Bank to seek out our local applicants first.
The job advertisements will have to be put up on the Jobs Bank website for at least 2 weeks. Only after the companies can’t get any local workers will they be allowed to apply for EPs for foreigners to work in their companies.

In another word, the companies that are posting on Jobs Bank is to fulfill the requirement for hiring foreign workers.
This does not appear to be a very good strategy to give more jobs to Singaporean’s. But of course, we appreciate the effort but let’s hope more can be done.
