A single mother in Johor has alleged that she was violently assaulted by her boyfriend of six months after he discovered she was still in contact with her former partner. The case has drawn public attention after she shared details of the incident at a press conference, citing concerns for her safety and that of her young daughter.
According to her account, the confrontation began after her current boyfriend became suspicious over her communication with her ex-partner. The situation reportedly escalated into a prolonged attack lasting around 30 minutes, during which she claimed she was struck with a rattan cane, had a suitcase thrown at her, and sustained head injuries from being pushed against a wall.
She further alleged that the assault left her with multiple bruises across her body and forced her to flee the home with her eight-year-old daughter when her boyfriend was not present. The incident has since raised concerns over domestic safety and the risks faced by individuals in abusive relationships.
Allegations of online harassment and job loss

Following the alleged assault, the woman claimed that her boyfriend uploaded videos of the incident online along with posts accusing her of exploiting men financially. She said these posts led to severe online harassment, including sexualised abuse from strangers.
She also alleged that she lost her job as a receptionist at a karaoke establishment after the accusations circulated online, leaving her without a source of income. The situation reportedly worsened when her personal social media account details were shared publicly, exposing her to further harassment.
The woman explained that her contact with her former partner was strictly related to financial matters, denying any personal relationship beyond that context. She also alleged that she had previously lent her boyfriend more than RM10,000, with a portion still unpaid at the time of the incident.
Police report filed as investigation continues
A police report was lodged the day after the incident, and authorities reportedly issued a warning to the boyfriend regarding the removal of defamatory online content. While some posts were removed from one platform, the woman claimed they were later reposted elsewhere, along with further threats.
She further alleged that the harassment continued online, with warnings that content would be repeatedly reposted to distress her. These actions have added to concerns about digital abuse and the use of social media to intimidate victims following domestic disputes.
Authorities are currently investigating the matter under provisions related to causing voluntary hurt, while efforts are underway to locate the suspect.
Growing concern over domestic violence cases
The case highlights ongoing concerns surrounding domestic violence and emotional abuse within relationships. Advocacy groups have repeatedly stressed the importance of early intervention, access to support services, and stronger protection for victims who may be financially or socially vulnerable.
While investigations are still ongoing, the incident has sparked wider discussion on the need for greater awareness of abuse patterns, particularly where jealousy, financial dependency, and online harassment intersect.
