Minister for Communications and Information of Singapore, Josephine Teo, posted onto her Facebook sharing that he mother was a policewoman.
She wrote about how she never retreats to helplessness in any situation, as the former debated in Parliament about Singapore Women’s Development.
Here is what she said on Facebook
HONOURING EVERY DAY (S)HEROES IN OUR LIVES
My mum was a police officer. She is not one to easily take no for an answer at work or at home, nor will she ever retreat to helplessness in any situation.
Because of mum, from young, I learnt to juggle my studies, my passion for basketball, as well as preparing meals daily for my younger brothers.
Parliament debated nearly 10 hours yesterday on the Motion on Singapore Women’s Development, with many Ministers and MPs spoke with passion about female role models in their lives.
Notably, other than women who had made remarkable achievements in their careers, the women they spoke most about were their… mothers. Indeed, every day (s)heroes in our lives – like our mothers – are just as worthy and deserving of our accolades.
And this is what the White Paper is ultimately about – to honour and celebrate every woman. As mothers, sisters, daughters, co-workers, they’ve made a huge impact in our lives, just by giving their best every day at home and/or at work.
So, let’s make it our collective mission to advance women’s interests through equality, partnership and mutual respect, so that they can continue to triumph through our words and deeds. – Jo Teo
